Check Out the Complete List of Documents Required to Enrol in PMAY Scheme

The PMAY housing scheme was introduced by the Central Government in 2015 to provide affordable housing to all Indians. Beneficiaries shortlisted under this credit-linked subsidy scheme receive interest rate subsidy on home loans availed for the purchase or construction of a new house.

Although the PMAY application procedure is easy and convenient, individuals must submit a handful of documents to complete requisite formalities. Also, some of the documents required for salaried and self-employed individuals differ.

The standard documents required for both these applicant types include the following.
  • Proof of identity such as Aadhaar, Voter ID, or any other valid photo identity proof. Also, note that PAN is a mandatory document required for the PMAY Awas Yojana scheme.
  • Proof of address like any KYC documents with the permanent address or any other relevant document issued by an authorised body.
  • Documents serve as a proof of new house property’s purchase like a sale or purchase agreement, registration certificate of the property, sale deed, payment receipt and the likes.
It should be noted that income proofs for the two applicants differ due to their nature of the occupation.

An employed individual must provide salary slips for the previous two months, bank account statements for the last six months and income tax return to successfully apply for interest rate subsidy on home loan under PMAY.

As for self-employed individuals, they must submit financial documents like a profit and loss account statement, balance sheet, income tax return for the previous two years and bank account statement for three past months.

Keep these documents handy as per your occupation for a hassle-free PMAY application procedure.
