Patta Chitta is nothing but land record documents made available online by the State Government of Tamil Nadu. Even though used together, Patta Chitta have two separate meanings.
Patta: It is a legal document issued by the State Government containing the actual name of the property owner. You can get a TN Patta from your local Tahsildar’s office. This document entails the following information –
- Patta number
- Property owner’s name
- Name of the taluk, district, or village
- Subdivision and survey number
- Whether it is a wetland or dry land
- Property measurement and tax information
Chitta: This is a document of land revenue maintained by the Taluk and Village Administrative Officer. A point to remember here is that, as of 2015, Chitta is not issued anymore as it has been merged with Patta.
